Naomi has been fighting Ewings Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer, since June of 2009. Naomi was a courageous girl and was known by everyone for her spunkiness and determination while maintaining her infectious sense of humor and positive spirit in her short life.

Naomi is survived by her mother, Natalie Jean Gushlaw; her maternal grandparents Lynn and Sandra Hunneyman, and her father, John Gushlaw Jr.; his wife Misty, stepbrother Logan and infant sister Jaelyn Jade; and paternal grandparents John Sr. and Janet Gushlaw. Other relatives would include Nicole and Mark Zehr, cousin Laura, Dan and Jacqui Hunneyman, Tiffany Briggs, great grandmothers Iola Stowell and Beverly Hunneyman, Joe and Lori Gushlaw, cousins Colton and Jarrett and her two favorite dogs, Opie and Charlie. Also there are many more great aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention.

Naomi was starting 4th grade this fall at the Wilson Building of South Jeff schools. She will be missed by her many friends, classmates, teachers as well as hundreds of loyal friends and supporters who have followed her story. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations in her name be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia, 3925 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia PA 19104. It was her home away from home for the last six years, it was a place of joy for her where she and her Mom made many friends.

Services will be held Saturday August 22 at the Belleville United Methodist Church in Belleville NY. Calling hours will be 12 noon-2pm and 3pm-5pm and a Memorial Service at 5pm. The family is also asking that those attending please wear your pink Team Naomi shirts for the day in her honor. For those of you that don’t have a Team Naomi shirt there will be some available for you at the church.
